Gemara Research Project
As a further tool to promote self sufficiency in learning and gain both the ability and confidence to learn on one’s ‘own’ - talmidim in various shiurim are assigned special research projects. Talmidim are given the choice of picking any area that they choose to research from the Gemara/Rishonim. They must present the Pshat, Shakla V’Tarya and attempt to give the conceptual (Svara) explanation of the issues involved. Talmidim must trace and ‘test’ this concept by researching halachic sources both in Shulchan Oruch and in contemporary Sifrei Shalos V’Tshuvos (see below). As part of this project talmidim make use of the Mesivta’s computers and CD Rom to access a wealth of source material.
