Mitnadvim III - Shaare Tzedek

This year, for Rambam's annual mid-semester mitnadvim trip, a group of students volunteered in Shaare Tzedek Medical Center for two weeks. It was a great opportunity for us to directly help Israel in a time when hospital services are especially needed. Previously, the mitnadvim trip consisted of volunteering on an army base. This year, in tribute to the memory of Dr. Applebaum and his daughter Naava z"l, we went to Shaare Tzedek. Dr. Applebaum and his daughter were killed at the Cafe Hillel the night before Naava's wedding in a terrorist attack. He was head of the Department of Emergency Medicine and a pioneer in his field. Adult Ed at Rambam!
Rabbis Friedman and Eliach have kicked off their innovative Adult Ed program on Tuesday nights at Rambam. Rabbi Friedman began a series of Tuesday night shiurium with an interactive shiur on "Lashon Hara - How to Stop it- What You Can Do to Stop it. (More...)

Rambam Senior Aryeh Reinstein will be presenting his research Science project on Feb. 27 at the Long Island Junior Science and Humanities symposium at Adelphi University, and at the Amercian Physical Society on March 22 in Montreal, Canada. His research project involved mixing supercritical fluids (like liquid carbon dioxide) with polymers that caused the polymers to develop small pores within the material. On Wednesday, Febuary 4th, the Ramabm Mesivta Mock Trial team had it’s first trial. Over fifty teams participated in the event, held at the New York Supreme Court in Nassau County.

Rabbi Y.’s Nighttime Bais Midrash Program

Stop by the Rambam Bais Midrash at nighttime, and you’ll often find Rabbi Y. surrounded by a minyan of talmidim joining him for some learning lishma. The boys, representing all the grades, prepare be’Chavrusa (pictured above) for Rabbi Y.’s shiur in Bava Kama, and then spend time doing chazara.
Wednesday Nights with Rabbi Haar

Rabbi Haar's Wednesday Night Shiur made a siyum on the 3rd perek meseches megillah. The talmidim enjoyed the Divrei Torah and deli and are set to begin the 4th perek next week

JV Basketball
In the corridors of Rambam, there's been quite a buzz about this year's JV Basketball team. Coached by Dov Weiner, a legend in the Yeshiva League, the team is comprised of 11 players who each play a decisive role in the team's overall success. (More...)

 

 


Rambam Varsity B-Ball Goes to Baltimore Tournament - Written By Rambam Junior Danny Konigsberg

Last month, the Rambam varsity basketball team was invited to Baltimore to participate in the “First Annual Willner Tournament” hosted by Yeshivat Rambam. The tournament was such a success that Rambam has already accepted an invitation to participate in next year's tournament. (More...)


In the last round of the inter-school Chess competition, the Rambam chess team went a perfect 7-0 in defeating HAFTR. Rabbi Farkas, the Rambam chess coach, beamed with pride as he credited the boys' stellar play and sportsmanlike behavior. "We implemented some new strategies which have helped," Rabbi Farkas said, "And the boys have been putting in a lot of their own time to gain a better mastery of the game." The Rambam chess team's record is now 14.5 - 6.5.
