 Eight
Rambam Students Qualify for National Merit Scholarship Program
Eight Rambam students have qualified for the 2006 National
Merit Scholarship Program. Each of the students is among the
50,000 highest-scoring participants of some 1.3 million program
entrants.
The eight Rambam honorees represent an astounding 17 %
of the junior class so honored compared with 3.8 % of all student
entrants nationwide.
"For a school of our size, to have eight students out of
our 47 member junior class so honored is
outstanding,"
said Rambam Principal
Rabbi Yotav Eliach. "We are very proud
of each of these young men."
The eight honorees are (from left to right in photo): Avishai
Fuss, Jonathan Ziring, Michael Pisem, Raffi

Thursday, May 5th to observe Yom HaShoah, the day commemorating
the murder of six million Jews in the Holocaust by Nazi Germany.
The day began with a moving presentation to the talmidim by
Rambam Rosh HaMesivta Rabbi Zev Meir Friedman about
how to follow the Torah even under the most adverse conditions.
After religious
studies and lunch, Rambam Principal Rabbi Yotav
Eliach,
himself the son of Holocaust survivors, conducted a lesson in the

Commemorates Yom HaZikaron
Rambam Principal Rabbi Yotav Eliach, led an early
morning assembly on Wednesday, May 11th as part of the Rambam celebration
of Yom HaZikaron, Israel's Memorial Day.
Rabbi Eliach began his presentation with a comparison of the mindset
of an American student about to graduate from high school and an
Israeli
student about to do the same.
"The American student may be thinking about his next year in Israel
and his college plans on his return," said Rabbi Eliach, "The Israeli
student is wondering what army unit he's
going
to be
in,
will he survive
and, if he does survive, will his body remain whole or be maimed for
life." (Read

The
Rambam Soccer team picked up its first win of the season on Tuesday,
May 3rd by defeating Davis Renov Stahler (DRS) 7-5.
The victory reverses a previous loss to DRS earlier in the year
and shows improvement in the team's performance over the course
of this season.
"I joined the team this year as a freshman along with
some of my friends," said
freshman Isaac Ben-Simhon. "So I think this
game shows we're learning to play together better now as teammates."
