In its most recent two games, the Rambam Varsity Hockey
team lost to two tough divisional opponents: Torah
Academy of Bergen County (TABC) and Davis, Renov, Stahler
(DRS).
In the loss to TABC, Simcha Gross deserves
particular mention for having scored all three
goals for Rambam. "Simcha
was incredible," said Varsity coach Scott
Firester,
"He really kept us in the game in the first half and
even scored a short-handed goal."
The Varsity team is looking to improve its record
over its last four games and finish the season strongly.
"We're just coming through a stretch against some really
tough opponents," Firester said, "Now it's time for
the big push at the end."
It's not all competition for the Varsity team, however.
Win or lose, the team will be going as a team to see
the movie "Miracle"
about
the U.S. Olympic Hockey team that won the gold
in 1980.
"The kids deserve a break," Firester said, "They've
worked real hard this season."
The JV team is still in the hunt for a playoff spot
after having split its last two games. Rambam lost
to DRS and beat Magen David. Chaim
Stauber earned particular
recognition for scoring two goals and getting an assist
from his defenseman's position.
