Alumni Reunion Shabbaton
in Israel (cont...) (BACK
TO NEWSLETTER) “It
was geat to see our boys in action in their yeshivas and
learning but it also gave me an opportunity to
guage the type of talmidim who are there,” said
Rabbi Friedman. "Most importantly, just being
with the boys again after graduation is a joy.”
The
Alumni Reunion Shabbaton began on Friday night
when the boys davened together, with tefilos lead
by Rambam alumnus Yehoshua Konig followed
by a
meal filled with much ruach, singing
and divrei Torah.
Shabbos morning, the boys davened in the
renowned Beit
Knesset haGr”a in Shaarei Hessed and
at the
Kotel shul. They returned to the Brown’s
house for more learning and a round-robin divrei
Torah. After the seuda,
the boys davened mincha, returned for
an afternoon shiur with
Rabbi Friedman, and joined
together in an inspirational shalosh seudos. Even
though Shabbos was over at 5:15 pm, the boys continued
with their zmiros and divrei Torah for
well over an hour, davening maariv and making Havdallah at
6:30 pm.
Substantially
all Rambam graduates continue in post-high school
learning programs, most at Yeshivot Eretz Yisrael. Our
graduates are actively recruited by these yeshivot,
where they are known for their learning skills, outstanding midot and
deep-rooted
ahavat Eretz Yisrael. Our graduates attend Yeshivot
Hesder programs,
such as Yeshivat Har Etzion (Gush), Kerem B’Yavneh
(KBY) and Shaalvim, but also at
American programs, such as Yeshivat
Ohr Yerushalayim (OJ) and Mevaseret Yerushalayim.
Some also attend
Shana Bet institutions, such as Yeshivat Torat Moshe (TOMO),
Yeshivat Derech haTalmud (Rav Ilson) and Yeshivat
Mir. Following
these programs, substantially all of our students return to the
United States to attend college.
