“RoboCup is an international joint project to
promote Artificial Intelligence, robotics, and related
fields. It is an attempt to foster AI and intelligent
robotics research by providing a standard problem where
a wide range of technologies can be integrated and
examined.” (From

Based on their performance in the Northeast regional
competition, the Rambam club members may be invited
to participate in the international event in Osaka,
Japan
on July
13-19th. Last year, the Rambam club participated in
the international event in Lisbon, Portugal. In addition
to participating in the international competition,
the Rambam team was awarded the "Most
Collegiate" Award at the Northeast Regional competition
at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
To earn this award, the boys demonstrated wonderful
midos which resulted in a true Kiddush
Hashem.
“It’s remarkable how a group
of kids on their own time, and at their own initiative
have catapulted themselves into a world class competition,
" said Rambam principal Rabbi Yotav Eliach.
"It’s
a remarkable achievement for a school of this size."
Rosh HaMesivta Rabbi Zev Meir Friedman added:
"The Rambam Robotics Club is entirely a student-initiative.
The
guys have
done
it
all on
their own time. We’ve supported them as much
as we can, but it just goes to show what students can
achieve on their own.”
The
members of the Rambam Robotics club are: Aviv
Bar-onn, Aaron
Friedman, Daniel Himber, Zoli
Honig, Daniel Lax, Ariel
Lindenfeld, Naftali Lubin, Yair
Oelbaum, and Stephen Rosen.
